The Celebration of Creativity Fine Art Exhibit & Sale is open to the public March 2 - 5, 2017.  Held annually the first weekend in March at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Beaverton, the Fine Art Exhibit & Sale provides an unmatched showcase for more than 80 established and emerging Northwest artists.  Now celebrating its 39th year, the Celebration of Creativity is noted for its unique displays and the high quality of work exhibited.  The Exhibit & Sale will feature a variety of ceramics, fiber art, garden art, baskets, glass, jewelry, mixed media, oil, acrylic, pastel, pottery, photography, sculpture, watercolor, and wearable art – virtually something for everyone.

The Celebration of Creativity begins Thursday evening, March 2, with a “First Look Gala” from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  The gala features music by Matt Thompson-Aue, pianist, hors d’oeuvres, and is the first opportunity to purchase art and meet some of the artists.  This event is open to the public, and admission is $10 at the door with ample, off-street parking available at no charge.

On Friday, March 3, the Exhibit & Sale is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, admission is free.  In the evening the Exhibit and Sale is open from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, the public is invited to meet the artists at this time and enjoy live Jazz music by Blackburn & Duthie, admission is free for the evening event.

The Exhibit & Sale continues Saturday, March 4 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and guests will be treated to classical music throughout the day. Admission is free.

At 10:00 am Sunday morning, Southminster Presbyterian Church invites the public to a unique “Worship in the Art” service in the sanctuary which has been transformed into an art gallery.  The Exhibit & Sale is closed during worship but will resume from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. Admission is free.

For more than 15 ten years, the Celebration of Creativity has provided money for scholarships and art programs as part of its mission to promote local arts by supporting art education.  The committee granted three scholarships for the Beaverton Arts Commission’s outstanding high school visual art students.  In addition, the committee has supported the Beaverton School District Art Literacy Program for the past 16 years with volunteers and donations.

The 37rd annual Celebration of Creativity Art Show at Southminster Presbyterian Church is located one mile west of Highway 217 at the corner of SW Hall and SW Denney Road in Beaverton.  For additional information, call 503-644-2073

Background

The Celebration of Creativity was started over 35 years ago by a small group at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Beaverton, Oregon. The goal was to meet the need of local artists for a recurring professional venue and to make fine art available and affordable to the community.

Over the years, this showcase of local and regional talent has grown to become one of the premier art shows in the Portland area, famous for its beautiful presentation, a wide variety of media, and an ever-changing array of artists.

The Art Show Committee of Southminster works year-round to produce the Celebration of Creativity, inviting both emerging and established artists after jurying.

The show is made possible by the nearly 100 volunteers who support and staff it - a true labor of love.

We invite you to mark your calendar to join us each March as we celebrate the gift of creativity. Come and enjoy!
